I painted him in memory of a dear, Quaker friend named Ann Combs. </span><br /><br /></li><br /><li><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">The Bald Man scroll on the right was purchased at the Shanghai Museum. He is a monk, perhaps Ba Da Shan Ren (also known as, Chu Ta), or it might be Shih Tao. Both of these artists developed their own styles of painting instead of following the classical masters exclusively. The artist is shown here sitting, while painting a large palm leaf, as if he were in the painting, itself.
